The Ruse 03:03
you better lay it all out they're gonna play it loud you better lay it all out they're gonna play it play it there's bribes and basements we could use to put empty spaces in our shoes failing that, all we have is you fair tides are waiting with the ruse you better lay it all out they're gonna play it loud you better lay it all out they're gonna play it play it there's rope and duct tape in the boot i'm listening closely for the cue failing that, all we have is you scared hopeless, making your debut

sew up these eyes for me sew up these eyes for me sew up these eyes for me the richest stitches help me to forget your names again disown the plagues of men no one was made to end they're all the feelings that we've never had princes live in the dome world princes live in the dream princes live in the darkness princes live underneath

o my god you woke me up again with music hairline dreams the brandy in my tea leans over i might have heard your words i might have heard your voice i might have heard your song cold outside and i divide the garments trusted one by one and one is all i count this lost heart i might have heard your words i might have heard your voice i might have heard your song and i'm saving money to make a certain kind of footprint to make your backwards footprints i might have heard your words i might have heard your voice i might have heard your song

the bright eyes dancing wide both to whom my heart's entrusted the pinched nose and hidden bones that's the face i fell in love with the dyed hair, the thick lip the cracked-tooth half-smile all alive in you other girls the raised head, the mouth shaped like a curled leaf my pale heart battered, bruised and maladjusted the soft skin that's the face i fell in love with o o o o the red kiss, the pierced tongue the sideways dead gaze all alive in you other girls the shaved head, the eyes painted like a monet my pale heart who will come along and crush it the white light that's the face i fell in love with

about

PALE HEART is a songwriting and music production experiment. There is no doubt one would call these tracks "songs", but they lead you to unexpected places and introduce you to unexpected sounds.

Traditional notions of melody and harmony have been largely re-written for the approach taken here. Notes seem too close or too far from each other; in many sections it doesn't even seem possible to determine what key is being used, the pitch affinities shift so quickly. And perhaps it doesn't matter, because they seem to work here in a strange new way...
